15th place, not to shabby!

As you probably know by now, we finished 15th. A significant improvement where we finished last season, (21st) so good job Brew Crew!! All in all, its where we should be, somewhere in the middle 3rd.

Some quick stats on this season’s accomplishments (averages do not include the last night):

Pearl- average 118, high game 164
Ethel- average 108, high game 144
Opal- average 82, high game 103
Esme- average 118, high game 161
Agnes- average 122, high game 154
Abe- average 159, high game 191
Wilbur- average 134, high game 174
Gus- average 188, high game 243

I’ll be seeing most of you soon to distribute the winnings. I’m not sure how they calculate the winning amounts, because Wilbur noticed the 4th place team only got like $25 or $30 more than us….but the Malcontents (who were 24th) got $50 less than us (total). I think they might factor in the number of bowlers, but I’m not sure…

Next season starts August 30th, let me know if you’re interested and in the meantime enjoy your summer and try to get a couple practice rounds in.

Fallin'....

Sorry guys, we lost all 3 games. Ouch. One was really close (so close each of us were like "I alone could've done that game if only I'd done better in that one frame") but the others weren't as close. None of us could have a good (or even decent) game at the same time and to make it worse, they had someone prebowl who had 3 great games in a row!! I got a 154 the first game...but that wasn't enough to counteract the one guy's 279! (his average is 183) I didn't do so well the last 2 games, and at least 2 members of the other team were consistently beating their average each and every game...so, we lost all 3. Fallin hurts.
So we were tied for 10th, but I expect we fell to around to between 15-18th place. Gus and I will practice this weekend and lets hope we can win a couple in the playoffs next week to finish strong in the top 15-20!!!

Still in the top half

After last week we "fell" to 13th place -we're tied in # of games won for 12th, but the other team has more total pins. I was a little shocked we dropped a notch, as we won 5 of 7, but oh well.
Those lanes at the far end (1-6) suck, I'll tell you that. Our balls were not behaving the way we (or the other team) wanted them to, but we managed to win 5 out of 7 again. (that last one we lost by 13 pins!!! Argh- so frustrating!!) So, I imagine we're still around 11-15th place.
Anyway, Gus and I are off the next two weeks, so please update us with your results. Also, the last two weeks are already paid for, so you guys pay me that night. (vs the bowling alley)

We do plan on getting in a practice the weekend before we bowl again-don't worry, we want to finish strong! Keep it up, guys - lets keep in the top 15!!!

April Schedule

Well, we were in 12th, but we won 5 points out of 7 last night (by a hair - we took total pins by 9!!) so hopefully that helped us move back up a little bit. Let's all hit the lanes with the free play cards and get a round of practice in before the last month, so we can finish strong!!

Here's the last schedule, along with the lane assignments, let me know if you have any questions/concerns:

Um...we don't belong here....

Well, last Tuesday was a position round....we played the President and Secretary's team, Who Gives A Shit. (who, by the way, have averages of 177, 203, 208 and 149 (the girl on the team). So, while we were in 3rd, we were really playing in the big leagues above our head...we joked about how we're supposed to be in Coach but somehow are up in First Class. :)

We lost all 3 games. We just played poorly, below our overall abilities. My ball wouldn't do anything I wanted it to...when I wanted it to curve, it went straight. When I wanted it to go straight, it suddenly found a curve. Grr. Anyway, the other team experienced the same frustrations - many of them bowled below their averages too - which should've meant we could win a game, but nope. Anyway, no big deal, we're still should be around the top 10, back in Coach, where we belong.

Anyway, I updated the schedule with the lane assignments - they actually gave them to us this year and I just ran across them.

Gus and I will be gone the week of the 15th, so if you need to switch, please email each other, not me. (actually, it would probably be best if you always just emailed everyone instead of me all the time, but for sure I won't be checking email from Curacao!) :)

Next up is Pearl, Emse, Agnes, and Opal. Good luck and good bowling!

March Schedule

Here's the march schedule, let me know if there are issues!!

Bad weather and bowling

Normally if the weather is questionable, the league president and secretary usually make the call to cancel no later than 4 or 5pm and then call the bowling alley - they don't call us. You'll need to call the bowling alley at 314-469-6550 and ask if the Lousy Bowler's league is still scheduled. I just called and there was a message from yesterday, saying the alley closed early and they will re-open at 9am today, if the weather allows. Seeing how its 11:36, I'm guessing they, along with the entire metro area, aren't in today either and that bowling is cancelled tonight. I will try to call again later today, but please, if you remember, call and if you get a confirmation that yes, they are closed tonight, please comment on the blog to let us all know.

If it is cancelled, we're keeping our schedule I put out. (So Pearl, Abe, Gus, Agnes are up next week, 2/8) They will usually tack the extra day onto the end of the season.
