Welcome to the Brew Crew's website. No, we're not from Milwaukee; we just like the Brew Crew logo! We’re not serious about bowling as much as we are serious about having a good time! (well, we do try our hardest to win at least ONE game a week.) Check this site for schedules and accomplishments. Good luck and good bowling……

Update; looking good so far....
Well, Eudora reminded me I hadn’t posted any updated on the blog yet (sorry!!) so here you go. As of last week, we were in 8th place. Last night I think we won 2 out of 3 games, (both our team and the other team had people establishing their averages so sorry I’m not 100% sure), so we should still be in the top half; maybe still even the top 3rd. :)
So far everyone’s done an excellent job of keeping their initial average beatable, so good job!! Although I’ll be honest, I stunk it up last night! I went bowling the night before for a work team building thing and bowled by best game ever (I think) a 176!! Yeah…and then it didn’t go so well on actual league night – missed my average 2 out of 3 games! Boo Pearl!!!
But, luckily it’s a team sport and we did well, go team!!
Anyway, I also have the lane schedule for the rest of the season; it will be posted with the schedule from now on but here it is for the rest of September:
20th: lanes 5 & 6
27th: lanes 31 & 32

Let me know asap if you can't make it.
I'll try to update next week with lane assignments, if they give them to us.

Da Rules....
To the newbies (and a recap for the rest):
Ok, I think that's it.I'll see you guys soon!
- I use the blog for all official bowling communications-the schedule is posted, results (when I can) are posted, etc. Feel free to blog yourself as well; if you're interested let me know and I'll ad you as an admin.
- I try to post the schedule the last week of the month.
- Our team name is the Brew Crew. You need to pick out your "old person" name. Currently, Pearl (Christina), Gus (Terry), Esme (Natalie), Ethel (Maria), Wilbur (Doug) and Agnes (Andrea) are taken. Although Abe and Opal are not playing this time around, don't take their names either- yet! :)
- Don't forget you'll need to get your own shirts to match the team. We get our shirts at a local company called Cruisin USA-its on Olive, just north of the loop. They have a website or you can call and place your order, and pick it up there. We wear the Black and White Retro Bowler (item RBSWBBNK)and get the "Brew Crew" screenprint on the pack and our names on the front of the shirts.
- If something comes up and you are going to miss your scheduled night- you are ultimately responsible for finding someone else on the team to take your place. If you can't, you can either get to the center and pre-bowl (go bowl by yourself before bowling night and have the scores count for that night) or bowl "absent". You pay for the night of bowling either way.
- Please note "Bowling absent"- is a disadvantage to the team because your score is 10 less than your average, so please use this sparingly.
- The first night should NOT be your best night. I won't use the term "sandbag" but feel free to suck your first 3 games. The rest of the season will be easiest if your average is low and easy to beat each night.
- Many of us also play a card game during the night-$1 per game, so $3 a night. You get cards for strikes and spares and try to build the best poker hand. You're not required to play, but if you're going to, please bring some singles.
- the season starts Tuesday, August 30th.
- Bowling, assuming we bowl at the same place, is $15 per week, and includes 3 games. The season is 16 weeks total. You can pay in cash or check (no credit cards).
- Get to the bowling center around 6:30-6:45. We're given 15 minutes every night to practice, then it starts at 7. If you're running late, let us know. You can get there around 15-20 minutes late and catch up, but let me know if you're going to be late.
Ok, I think that's it.I'll see you guys soon!

15th place, not to shabby!
As you probably know by now, we finished 15th. A significant improvement where we finished last season, (21st) so good job Brew Crew!! All in all, its where we should be, somewhere in the middle 3rd.
Some quick stats on this season’s accomplishments (averages do not include the last night):
Pearl- average 118, high game 164
Ethel- average 108, high game 144
Opal- average 82, high game 103
Esme- average 118, high game 161
Agnes- average 122, high game 154
Abe- average 159, high game 191
Wilbur- average 134, high game 174
Gus- average 188, high game 243
I’ll be seeing most of you soon to distribute the winnings. I’m not sure how they calculate the winning amounts, because Wilbur noticed the 4th place team only got like $25 or $30 more than us….but the Malcontents (who were 24th) got $50 less than us (total). I think they might factor in the number of bowlers, but I’m not sure…
Next season starts August 30th, let me know if you’re interested and in the meantime enjoy your summer and try to get a couple practice rounds in.

Fallin'....
Sorry guys, we lost all 3 games. Ouch. One was really close (so close each of us were like "I alone could've done that game if only I'd done better in that one frame") but the others weren't as close. None of us could have a good (or even decent) game at the same time and to make it worse, they had someone prebowl who had 3 great games in a row!! I got a 154 the first game...but that wasn't enough to counteract the one guy's 279! (his average is 183) I didn't do so well the last 2 games, and at least 2 members of the other team were consistently beating their average each and every game...so, we lost all 3. Fallin hurts.
So we were tied for 10th, but I expect we fell to around to between 15-18th place. Gus and I will practice this weekend and lets hope we can win a couple in the playoffs next week to finish strong in the top 15-20!!!

Still in the top half
After last week we "fell" to 13th place -we're tied in # of games won for 12th, but the other team has more total pins. I was a little shocked we dropped a notch, as we won 5 of 7, but oh well.
Those lanes at the far end (1-6) suck, I'll tell you that. Our balls were not behaving the way we (or the other team) wanted them to, but we managed to win 5 out of 7 again. (that last one we lost by 13 pins!!! Argh- so frustrating!!) So, I imagine we're still around 11-15th place.
Anyway, Gus and I are off the next two weeks, so please update us with your results. Also, the last two weeks are already paid for, so you guys pay me that night. (vs the bowling alley)
We do plan on getting in a practice the weekend before we bowl again-don't worry, we want to finish strong! Keep it up, guys - lets keep in the top 15!!!
